Three Indian fishermen were arrested by the Srilankan Coast Guard as they have crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line and they were found fishing in Srilankan waters and this is the fifth detention during March 2016.


The Srilankan Navy has arrested the fishermen on Wednesday in northwest of Jaffna’s Delft Island and the fishermen are brought to Kankesanthurai and they will be handed over to the fisheries and Water Resources department officials.


The fishermen were arrested by the Srilankan Coastal Guard officials with the help of the Navy people. This is found as the fifth detention of Indian Fishermen was arrested by the Srilankan authorities during March 2016, on the charge of fishing in the island nation’s waters. Nearly 28 fishermen were found arrested on March 13th 2016.


Eight fishermen were arrested on March 3rd 2016, while 29 were arrested on March 6th 2016 and another four fishermen were arrested on March 10th 2016. They were all arrested at different locations in the mid sea.
