Bihar has imposed liquor ban from today. The excise and prohibition department destroyed 2,66,455 litres of country liquor in Patna district. To impose the ban at once, the Government has formed thirty specialized teams to destroy every drop of liquor.
The job of destruction was hand overed to Krishna Kumar who is the Assistant excise commissioner of Patna. 30 teams were formed and each team will have one excise officer, one police officer and one magistrate.
He said teams continued to work till the wee hours and the enforcement of new liquor policy is enforced on the district. All Old liquor shops were closed right now. Right now all teams ensure that illicit liquor is not being sold anywhere in the Patna district.
An assistant excise commissioner said, "Right now our workload has decreased as more liquor shops were closed. But at the same time, we have a bigger responsibility to enforce the ban and ensure no one participates in illegal liquor trade especially in rural areas."
