The Tamilnadu government Chief Minister Jayalalitha on Tuesday has told that the Karnataka government cannot abuse her of the benami transactions without correct evidence. When argument was going on before the bench of justice and a senior advocate Nageshwar Rao has asked why the Supreme Court should even entertain Karnataka’s petition under Article 136 of the constitution.


Rao has told that it cannot be contended by the Karnataka government without any evidence to back its claim the source of money flow was Ms. Jayalalitha has merely because the co-accused has lived with her. He also submitted that there was no charge whatsoever which was leveled under the Benami Prohibition Act in the case.


The enquiry when made from Jayalalitha’s side has asked why the income tax assessments have relied on by the High Court after conscious evaluation and testing on the basis of testimonies of several witnesses should now be re-opened in the apex court.


In July 2015 the apex court has refused to stay the Karnataka’s High Court judgment of acquittal while issuing the notice to all the four accused on in all the petitions which was filed in the matter by the Karnataka government, DMK and leader Anbazhagan and an intervention application was filed by the BJP Leader Subramania Swamy.
