The officials have stated that the engineering aspirants in Telangana will have a tough time in seeking admissions in private engineering colleges as officials estimate a drop in seats to the extent of 30 per cent with the expected closure of several institutes.

Reports have added that nearly 40 technical colleges from Telangana have sought closure from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and about 58 private colleges have failed to seek affiliation for financial year 2016-17 from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, due to technical problems and deficiencies.

The Telangana State Council of Higher Education has received total 1,43,376 applications so far for engineering. But last year there were about 52,808 in 231 private engineering colleges up for grabs with nearly 98 colleges out of race and the number of seats are expected to drop.

Rama Rao the consultant at the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee has told that they  are in the process of fixing fee for about 200 engineering colleges and currently the process is anticipated to get over by May first week.
