The Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao,have filed a petition and the Hyderabad High Court has served notices to the Centre, State government and authorities of Higher Education about the UoH Vice Chancellor issue.


The Hyderabad High Court has sought to know their stand on the continuation of Prof. P Appa Rao as University of Hyderabad (UoH) vice-chancellor. Hanumantha Rao has filed a petition for the removal of Appa Rao from his position as the Vice Chancellor.


Hanumantha Rao has told that the VC Appa Rao Podile is not able in handling the university matters and to creat a chaotic atmosphere on the campus which led to research scholar Rohith Vemula's death. During the questionnaire session by the bench, Hanumanth Rao got furious and agitated and has rushed towards the judge to which the bench ordered that he be sent out of the court hall. 


The case has been adjourned for further hearing for June 28 because of Hanumantha Rao’s anger. Rohith Vemula was a suspended research scholar who has committed suicide on January 17 which has triggered controversy across the academia in the country.
