Earlier on Tuesday the Election Commission of India reviewed the poll arrangements in all the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district through video conferencing here. The Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Kumar Sinha, Director N.C. Swain and Principal Secretary Tapas Kumar have held discussions with District Election Officer and Collector D. Karthikeyan in which election expenditure observers participated.
The Salem Collector Karthikeyan has said that the reports were received from members of various election expenditure teams and video surveillance teams were shared with the observers every day and it is made thorough scrutiny every now and then.
Even the bank transactions were monitored and actions were taken against complaints received through the election control room and cases were registered against political parties for violating the model code of conduct and training were provided to presiding officers on April 24.
Karthikeyan also added that all arrangements were in place for dispatch of postal votes to the officials. The city Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh, Election Expenditure Observers, additional district election officer and revenue officials were present there.
