The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday afternoon launched its seventh and last satellite of Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) constellation, IRNSS-1G from Sriharikota. The 51.5 hours countdown to launch of PSLV-C33/IRNSS-1G mission began at 09:20 hr IST on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.


This rocket would carry 1425 Kgs IRNSS-1G satellite into orbit at an altitude of 497.8 km. This Satellite was designed with a life span of 12 Years and it has two payloads for Navigation and ranging. This Stellite will also be used for defense purpose.

Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System will also use it for civilan purposes. So far, India has launched six regional navigational satellites (IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C, ID,1E and 1F) as part of a constellation of seven satellites to provide accurate position information service to users across the country and the region, extending up to an area of 1500 Kms.
