The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M. Karunanidhi has urged the Central government to exempt students of Tamil Nadu from taking the NEET.

This has taken place shortly after the Supreme Court ordered the conduct of the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) for medical admission.

In a statement here, Mr. Karunanidhi has urged the State to place its arguments that the decision to abolish entrance examination had been taken in the interest of social justice.

Meanwhile the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss has contended that the NEET would destroy the dreams of rural students when such type of entrance tests and eligibility tests are conducted.
