The Hyderabad High Court on Friday allowed the Telangana government to conduct vigilance checks among private Junior colleges and other educational institutions in the state and the government had been conducting surprise inspections on some of these institutions in the past.

Meanwhile the Junior colleges JAC had not only expressed their objection to this but also threatened to not allow the government to conduct the TET and EAMCET examinations on May 1 and 2 in their premises and the government was forced to reschedule both these exams to a later date.

A group of colleges have appealed to the High Court against the periodic checks of the government, and a single bench judge had ruled in their favor where the government then appealed to a division bench. Many were even functioning without sufficient lecturers and they have informed the court.

They have petitioned the court that it was necessary to conduct checks in order to monitor the quality of education in the institutes as many of them did not even have the mandatory labs as part of their infrastructure. On Friday the division bench has passed judgment in the government's favor by allowing it to conduct vigilance checks on colleges.
