The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday has taken up a suo motu case, which was followed by the death of two laborers in a manhole on Sunday. It was said that the vacation bench which comprises justices A Rajasheker Reddy and A Shankar Narayana will hear the case on Thursday.


The court has made Telangana state's principal secretary, municipal administration and urban development, GHMC commissioner, HMWSSB managing director, city police commissioner as respondents.


The two laborers were identified as Veeraswamy and S Kotaiah who were hired to clean up manhole in Kapadia Lane in the Sultan Bazar area on Sunday and the workers have died of suffocation by inhaling poisonous gases and the local residents have complained that the police and the 108 emergency who rushed to the spot didn't make any efforts to retrieve the bodies from the manhole.


As Sunday was an official holiday for regular sanitation staff of Hyderabad Metropolitan Supply and Sewerage Board, the two laborers were engaged to work by some unknown persons and the two laborers have hailed from Mahabubnagar district who has come to Hyderabad to make out a living.
