A floor test was held today in the Uttarakhand Assembly to ascertain whether ousted Congress chief minister Harish Rawat still enjoys a majority in the House amid tight security and in addition to Rawat himself has claimed victory, an opposition lawmaker has also indicated that Rawat will return as chief minister.

Meanwhile a BJP lawmaker has said that only 28 MLAs have voted for the BJP in the 61 member House. Independent MLA Harish Chandra Durgapal has claimed that all six Progressive Democratic Front MLAs that is, two BSP, 1 UKD and three Independents will have for Rawat.

The Principal Secretary of Uttarakhand government oversaw the conduct of the floor test for which President's Rule was kept in abeyance for two and a half hours from 10:30 AM and the proceedings were video-graphed and the result of today's confidence vote will be presented tomorrow, in a sealed cover, to the Supreme Court.

The Centre has then imposed President's Rule in Uttarakhand on March 27 by saying Rawat has lost his majority when the nine Congress legislators have rebelled and thereafter the Speaker has disqualified the nine Congress rebels under the Anti-Defection law.
