The governance is set to ask the private sector to substantially step up hiring of apprentices on the shop floor to help India meet the skills deficit and the skills Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy has told in an interview to CNBC TV that the governance wants a minimum of 2.5% of total private sector workforce to be comprising of apprentices up to a maximum of 10%.


Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that it is surprising that a country with centuries of traditional skills and the skill workforce is just 4.0 to 4.5% whereas that in Korea and Japan is around 80% has stated that a report by National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) and he has said that it could be that we have not found a way to capture the skills or upscale the skills to be recognized as a skill.


The Prime Minister is chairing the first mission meet on June 2nd and even the PM would say how come a country with centuries of traditional skills and our skill workforce is 4.5% or 4% when they talk about Korea or Japan it is 80%. 


For the first time an HRD Minister who has come in this country has apart from having a huge domain of education has appreciated how the skill is very crucial as far as education is concerned.
