Centre for Science and Environment made a shocking report that the presence of cancerous chemicals in 84 per cent of 38 widely-consumed brands of pre-packaged breads, including pizzas, buns and paos, as they tested positive for potassium bromate and potassium iodate and both are banned in most countries due to the 'Hazardous' effects on human health.


Soon after the report got released, Health Minister JP Nadda ordered officials to report him urgently. He said, "There is no need to panic. Very soon, we will come out with the (probe) report."


And soon after the report, FSSAI has decided to remove Potassium Bromate from the list of permitted additives. It is also making a re-examination on Potassium Iodate.


And right now some of the popular Food joints, whose samples tested positive include, KFC, McDonald's, Domino's, Subway, Pizza Hut and Nirula's. Chandra Bhushan who is head of CSE Laboratory said, "We have found 84% of potassium bromate/iodate in a few samples through an external third-party laboratory. We clearly made our decision."
