On Tuesday the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanking him for promulgating ordinance exempting NEET this year and she has also insisted that state should be exempted from NEET in the future too.

Jayalalitha has penned to Modi as reads that she has requested him to take necessary measures to ensure that Tamil Nadu is permitted to continue its existing fair and transparent system of admission to medical colleges and dental colleges in the State and not forced to implement the NEET even in the future.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, which do not conduct an entrance examination for medical and dental colleges, will continue to admit students on the basis of marks obtained in Class XII examinations this year and President Pranab Mukherjee cleared the NEET ordinance on Tuesday, which leaves it to the States to either conduct their own entrance examination or be a part of NEET.

It is also stated that all management quota seats shall be filled by the private colleges and deemed universities through the NEET examination only.
