Pakistan always used to be the favourite nation of super power United States of America and many times US sanctioned millions of dollars of aid snubbing India despite its disastrous record on containing terrorism emanating from its land.
US always funded Pakistan and many times offered F 16 fighter jets at subsidised rates. Even this time Pakistan establishment expected the same from US senate. However they received huge shock when US voted against concessions following reports that Pakistan has been diverting aid to aid terrorists.
US asked Pakistan to make full payment and ink the deal. Pakistan protested it vehemently but invain. According to the latest it is comingout that Pakistan failed to ink the F-16 deal and the terms of sale have now expired and Pak decided not to make full payment for the eight aircraft for the US $700 million.
While Pakistan national dialy qoute a diplomatic source saying "Pakistan decided not to fully fund the case with national funds, so the terms of sale have now expired," Its ambassador to US Jalil Abbas Jilani said "a dead-end has not been reached as yet". Analysts believe that Pakistan may consider Russian or Chinese fighters as alternative.
