Before Modi came to power more than 300 Million Indians never had access to Electricity. Indian Prime Minister Modi made universal electrification and he made lots of announcements raking up India's ambitions to produce both coal and "clean" power.

With US President Obama hosting lunch for Modi at White House, there are high hopes that Modi will state his commitments towards renewable energy. Judging by public statements both have made, Modi and Obama see combating climate change not only as an imperative that will shape their legacies, but also as a foundation for their personal bond.

For his part, Obama said India's approach to the Paris would set the tone. The Climate talks in Paris last December was completely targeted at Global Warming trends. Another possible step forward would be India joining the United States and other Western countries who seek to amend the Montreal Protocol.

This is once again another International agreement and this time it is geared towards Greenhouse gas which is caused by appliances such as Air conditioners, Refrigerators. One of Modi's most ambitious plans is to create 100 gigawatts of power from solar power, and an additional 75 from other renewable sources such as Wind.
