All eyes are on Congress in the elections for two seats of Rajya Sabha from Haryana. The decision of the party on whether to vote or refrain will decide the fate of two Independent candidates one backed by BJP and another by INLD. All three parties have their own meetings to finalize the strategy for the election.
Meetings of Congress and INLD will take place in Delhi, BJP MLAs will be meeting at the residence of the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh. Congress has not made up its mind as the party needs to choose a side who is backed up by BJP or INLD.
Even if Congress refrains from voting, the party will be giving advantage to the candidate backed by BJP. Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Tanwar said, "We have all options open. Soon we will take a decision in the meeting.
BK Hariprasad will be present. He will convey the opinion of the MLAs to the party leadership." Right now Congress has 17 MLAs in the 90-member Haryana Vidhan Sabha. The BJP has 47 apart from the support of Independent candidates.
