A latest date from Indian Government reveals all statistics. Among all the cities, Delhi is known for congested roads and drivers. Delhi also has reported most deaths (1622) and Mumbai has seen (23468) accidents. The worrying factor is, these accidents and fatalities are increasing despite various measures taken by the government and courts.
The Centre is planning drastic changes in law for harsher punishments and heftier fines for traffic violations. Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, My heart is full of pain. Two years of work has never brought any change. We have taken lots of steps to minimize this, but still it is of no use."
Drivers were responsible for 71% of the accidents in a country where vehicle sales have gone through the roof in recent years. It's not just about drivers too. Faulty roads also have an equal role to play.
