Sources from New Delhi have stated that from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eminent sports personalities, the country was wholesome in its praise for the Indian hockey team's gutsy effort that saw it clinch a silver medal in the Champions Trophy in London.
The PM has written on his official twitter that he has greeted the country’s Hockey Team for a spirited performance in Champions Trophy finals and their effort has been brilliant and India is proud of the team’s efforts and achievement.
It is said that only Harmanpreet Singh was able to score in the shootout, while SK Uthappa, SV Sunil and Surender Kumar all hit wide off the target, where just four attempts were required from the two teams as Australia had gained a winning 3-1 lead.
Meanwhile the Olympic silver-medalist shooter and union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore has said that fighting performance by Hockey Team India in Champions Trophy and they deserves applause and has also congratulated the team for bringing glory to India.
