Sources have stated that the AIADMK executive committee on Friday has praised Chief Minister Jayalalitha for making it possible for the AIADMK to win the election by contesting in all 234 seats on ‘two leaves’ symbol and without an alliance and the executive meeting that elected Ms. Jayalalitha as the general secretary of the party for the sixth time said after five decades.
Meanwhile Ms Jayalalitha has attended the meeting with her friend Sasikala at the party headquarters and a resolution has adopted in the meeting urged the Centre fulfill all the demands made by her to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The resolution has said that even though the Supreme Court had ordered raising the water level of Mullaperiyar to 152 ft, it could not be achieved because the Centre failed to offer timely assistance and the Centre should immediately implement it.
It is also stated that another resolution requested the Centre to release funds due to Tamil Nadu as demanded by Ms. Jayalalitha in her 29 charter of demands and the executive meeting also made a strong case for retrieval of Katchatheevu, contending that such a move alone would restore the traditional fishing rights of Tamil fishermen.
