Sources have stated that a day after the gruesome murder of 24 year old S. Swathi, her father K. Santhanagopalakrishnan, has questioned the need to unnecessarily speculate on the motive behind the murder of his daughter when no one can bring back the departed soul, why tarnish her image and indulge in character assassination.

It is said that the family has chosen to speak exclusively to The Hindu, to put to rest several rumors that were being circulated in the media and he has said the family was cooperating with the investigation.

A software engineer employed at Infosys, Swathi was murdered by an as yet unidentified assailant at the Nungambakkam railway station on Friday where the family was upset that though Swathi’s identity card and wallet were found at the crime scene, no one has come forward to inform them about the incident earlier.

Swathi’s uncle K. Govindarajan has told that around 8 a.m. my brother was performing his morning pooja, when a constable came home and informed him about the incident, and the incident should be a lesson in improving safety for women.
