Sources have stated that after scoring 1130 marks in Plus Two, Saravanan was assured of a seat in medicine as well as engineering in the year 2007 and his father Selvan, an agricultural laborer in Erode district, could not afford to fund his son’s higher education.


Saravanan has told that  she has joined Aeronautical Engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology in Chromepet in Chennai and over the next four years, she met him every year to hand over a cheque from party funds for that year’s educational expenses and motivate him to excel.


He has also added that the Chief Minister has recognized him at once and has said that he has worked for TCS as a systems engineer and has given it up to pursue a career in civil services. Studying in the government run UPSC coaching facility, he was ranked 995 in 2014 and made it to the Indian Revenue Service.


He has taken the civil services exams again and was ranked 366 and this has opened the door for the Indian Administrative Service, his long cherished dream and about 10 days ago, he had given an interview to newspapers expressing his desire to meet the Chief Minister.
