Sources have stated that days after a woman techie was murdered at a railway station and another committed suicide after her morphed picture was uploaded on Face book, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday has catapulted a scathing attack on the Tamil Nadu police, alleging it had failed to protect the common man.
By referring to the suicide of a young woman in Salem after her morphed picture was uploaded on Face book, Mr. Karunanidhi has said the police department should not think that just providing security to those in power and monitoring the activities of the Opposition parties was their work.
It is stated that the DMK chief also referred to Madras High Court’s directive to Tamil Nadu government yesterday over the issue and several queries it had raised on security aspects and Mr. Karunanidhi has conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families of both women.
The DMK Chief has urged the police department to also engage themselves in giving protection to the ordinary people and strongly condemn them for not doing so.
