Ramkumar who murdered Swathi has confessed that he murdered her as she was close with him, but never loved him back in return. Ramkumar said, "I studied Mechanical Engineering in a private institution at Nellai. I never completed my studies due to arrears. I came to Chennai, and I was staying at Choolaimedu. I got a part time job in Textile shop.

During this job, I got acquainted with Swathi. We became close friends and for past 4 months we had lots of chit-chat. I used to go to work by walk each day. Swathi also used to go to work at the same time. So we walked together each day. I introduced myself as an Engineering graduate to Swathi. Soon Swathi came to know that I work in a Textile shop and she started to avoid me.
With lots of fear, I just proposed her at once. She insulted me and she started to ignore me. And after that, she started to come to Railway station along with her father every day morning. I never got a chance to speak with her. But still, I got few chances and I begged her to accept my love. Two times I pleaded her in Nungambakkam Railway Station.
Again she said, that I am not a match for her and she scolded me. This caused rage inside me and I decided to kill her. I followed her with a sickle inside my bag for past two days. I was noticing her so close.
On 24th June, I met her at Nungambakkam Railway station and I begged her to accept my love. Once again she ignored. This caused me rage and I took the sickle out of my bag and I cut her till the rage inside me subsided. Then I escaped from that spot."
