The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to acquire thousands of acres which is all fertile land spread in more than 29 villages for Machilipatnam Port and Industrial Corridor (MPIC). This would be reportedly displacing about one lakh people, while also affecting the ecological balance.

Chandrababu is taking that big

The Machilipatnam port was the gateway to the East India for nearly thousand years. There have been many unsuccessful plans for reviving the port after the year 1989, when the last ship left here. And now, Chandrababu is taking that big step. But is he treading a dangerous path?

Chandrababu Naidu led TDP government

Although officials are saying that only 37,000 acres would be acquired, many feel Chandrababu Naidu led TDP government in AP may be eyeing more than one lakh acres which is nothing short of a disaster. This would also include certain hidden benefits to the TDP lobby.

Even some of the leading ports in India and rest of the world were built with only 5000 acres and hence TDP government in AP moving in this way is being seen as treading a very risky and controversial path! This is just the first step so the coming days will give a clear picture.
