Chennai sources have stated that Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam on Thursday presented the present AIADMK government's first budget. This is the revised budget for the fiscal 2016-17. There was no announcement on total prohibition in it and it has been decided to build 37 primary health care centers.


The government is keen to build toilets in several schools, to give education to all children is the prime concern of the government, for conducting municipal elections, it has been decided to allocate Rs. 182 crores, the Chennai people will be able to get high-class metro rail service in the near future.


Furthermore highlights are the extension of the metro rail from Vannarapettai to Thiruvottiyur is a great success for the current TN government. For the welfare of women, the government will make a 50 per cent increase in women quota, various measures have been announced for continuous drinking water supply to all. In 2015-16, the Tamilnadu economy grew by 8.79%.


TASMAC revenue is pegged at Rs. 6636.38 crore, Rs.2, 000 crores allocated for the 'Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Fund'. A sum of Rs. 100 crore allocated for the 'Project Preparation Fund and still many more plans was planned by the Finance Minister.
