Alimineti Uma Madhav Reddy was once only a home maker but after the death of the then Home Minister and Nalgonda Strong Man, Alimineti Madhav Reddy, she was encouraged by the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Her husband's death due to Naxals brought her lot of sympathy.

According to few sources, although she wanted to join TRS, there have been no positive signals from there as the car is house full in Nalgonda. Taking this as advantage, Congress leader Jana Reddy has reportedly succeeded in convincing her to shift towards Congress.
Even Congress needs a good leader in Bhuvanagiri segment and hence Jana felt Uma will be a right candidate. But she may not move out by criticizing and sources say she may inform Babu very politely and then take exit as she feels Babu has done a lot for her family so far!
