Former Indian President APJ.Abdul Kalam endeared himself to all sections of people cutting across all feelings. All Indians hail him as Peoples President and after his sudden demise in 2015. Government after months of neglect decided to build a memorial at the Pei Karumbu burial ground near his hometown Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.

Both centre and state acted after family of Kalam complained about dogs roaming near the burial site. Till then both parties started blaming each other and now work started over the memorial couple of days back. However in a shocker it is coming out that Jamaathul Ulama Council in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram District objected to the construction of idol.

They said  the statute was against Shariat and they oppose it as Islam was against ‘idol’ worship. A. Valiyulla Noori, president of the council speaking to scribes said the best tributes one can pay Kalam is  to follow his ideals and realise his vision for a stronger and developed India and pointed out that Kalam dreamed of youth achieving something big.

Kalam's grand nephew, APJM Sheif Saleem said that the council informed them about their views but they added that they are helpless in the matter. Already work for the seven foot bronze statue already started. This one will be Kalam's second official statue. Earlier DRDOP,Hyderabad came with a statue in honor of Peoples President.
