No matter how much is a grand inter river interlinking useful, ecologists have warned that mixing two eco systems is fraught with many challenges.  Now the Godavari water released from Pattiseema is altering the ecology of the Krishna river.

There have been media reports regarding invasion of a killer fish called sailfin catfish belonging to Pterygoplichthys species. The fishermen in Krishna district over last few days are upset as are hundreds of dead fish is being washed on banks of Krishna river in Vijayawada.


Pavitra Sangamam


There have many fish killing happening near Pavitra Sangamam also, which is the confluence point of river Krishna and the river Godavari. The killer fish is killing all the native fishes and also tearing costly nets of fishermen causing financial loss.


When they tried to catch hold of it, they are also causing injury. Now many are hoping that any flood in Krishna water will dilute this water and hence it may become solved. Officials assure that these fishes won’t cause harm to people taking dip during Krishna Pushkaralu!
