In what is being seen as a surprise move, Cherukuru Sridhar being appointed as the new Commissioner of Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) in the state of Andhra Pradesh replacing senior IAS officer Nagulapalli Srikanth seems to be raising many eyebrows.

Many feel that this may have been done since Sridhar belongs to Babu’s community. There are rumours floating around that TDP leadership wanted an officer who can protect the interests of his community the new capital city of Amaravati.
This was reportedly opposed by the Chief Secretary of AP, S P Tucker, as CRDA requires the services an experienced officer of the level of District Collector. Sridhar had served only as joint collector of Guntur before and now he has been made CRDA Commissioner.
There are reports that Srikanth opposed the Swiss Challenge method which was followed for the selection of Singapore consortium with a status as the developer of Amaravati. Now, he has been shown the door! This approach is rather harmful for Naidu's administration.
