Haryana assembly gave huge shock to people of the country when the state Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma invited Jain monk Tarun Sagar to address the assembly. In a first of its kind the Jain monk entered the assembly in nude and delivered a 40 minute speech.
He touched on various topics like politicians having criminal cases, terrorism, POK, female foeticide etc. Speaking about female foeticide he said 'big problem that disturbs the balance of the society, leading to more crimes and rapes'. Offering solution to the problem, Tarun Sagar said "At the political level, the government should decide that those who do not have daughters should not have the right to contest Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. At the level of society, people should not marry their daughters into families that do not have daughters. At the religious level, saints should decide that they will not accept alms from houses where there are no daughters. The result will exceed expectations if this formula is followed. We are living in the 21st century. Even today, when boys and girls are differentiated, I feel we are living in the 14th century."
He came down heavily on politicians having criminal cases. Referring to a survey which said 160 MPs are having criminal cases, he said 'criminal elements should not not able to climb the stairs of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha'. He blasted Pakistan for harbouring terror in its land and added it is creating Bhasmasurs to trouble India.
While many agreed on all his views which are in sync with the today's generation thought process, the husband wife anology made social media furious. he said "control of dharma over politics is essential. Dharma is the husband and politics is the wife. It is the duty of every husband to protect his wife and it is the duty of every wife to accept the orders (discipline) of her husband," and went on to say, "if there is no control of dharma over politics, it will be like an elephant out of control,"
