Chennai sources have Chief Minister Jayalalitha has said the canonization of Mother Teresa will again highlight the work that she has done amongst the poor and downtrodden and those who had no one to turn to and she continues to draw sustenance for her own public service from life and work of Mother Teresa.
It is stated that Mother Teresa would be canonized and known as Saint Teresa after the ceremony to be held in the Vatican on September 4th and her life and work has inspired many and as Saint Teresa, she will continue to inspire many, many more.
Ms. Jayalalitha has said in a statement that the spirit of compassion and selfless service to the most unfortunate, the sick, the dying and the destitute will be greatly bolstered through keeping alive the memory of this great soul.
She has also recalled her meeting with Mother Teresa at her residence on January 20th, 1994 and has termed Mother Teresa’s presence at the State function on the international Women’s Day in 1994 as a “memorable event in her life”.
