Sources from Tirupathi have stated that the temple town of Tirupathi has finally made it to the short-listed smart cities. Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday has released the list of 27 smart cities in Delhi and the temple town has competed unsuccessfully in earlier two rounds.



Presently the Tirupathi Municipal Corporation has sent development proposals worth about Rs 1,600 crore to the Centre and the project report for Tirupathi has said the civic body aims to make the "holy city of Tirupathi as a great place to live, work and visit" and it also aims at providing "high quality core infrastructure in an inclusive manner to convert Tirupathi into a smart city.

It was stated that there will be an integrated city portal in GIS platform, a city integrated operations control centre, and Tirupathi ONE app providing a plethora of services including hotel, health, travel and education.



It has also drawn up plans for a slum-free Tirupathi and in the run up to the smart tag, the AP government has decided to increase the jurisdiction of the Tirupathi urban development authority to about 2,000 sq km by merging areas like Srikalahasti and Chandragiri.
