Hyderabad sources have stated that a large 10 foot deep cave in has occurred near NTR Garden on Wednesday morning posing a major risk for motorists on Necklace road and a commuter in fact has fell off his vehicle after it has skidded when the road suddenly caved in and the passers-by and watchmen for the garden, however, has saved him from falling into the pit.
Sources have stated that as the road gave way , a gush of drainage water from the pipeline underneath it filled it up in minutes and the drainage water poured in with a roar, where a food vendor at the spot, who had seen it happen, and the incident has taken place at 11.30 am.
Meanwhile the civic officials and police have arrived soon after barricading the spot to prevent traffic flow on to the road and the officials themselves have tried not to venture too close to the crater as the ground appeared weak.
According to HMWS&SB general manager, operations and maintenance division, the drainage pipeline has made of cement has a capacity to carry 160 MLD of water and it was unable to take the massive volumes of rain water flowing into it and the road stretch too has taken a lot of beating on account of the heavy vehicles passing on it recently during immersions.
