Sources from Hosur have stated that for over the last fortnight, the 500 meter stretch from Athibelli archway up to Jujuvadi here in Hosur has been rendered unmotorable by Karnataka police. This stretch falls under Karnataka territory, even as the Athibelli archway that signals a figurative entry point is erected few hundred meters inside their territory.
It was stated that as the political hostility escalates between the two States, it gets manifested in the everyday struggles of ordinary people, where old and young, women and men, and children, from all walks of life and with many forms of infirmities continue to trudge this stretch braving the heat, only because bus services have been barred entry by Karnataka police.
A highly placed official has said that for the first few days, they did help with a free ferry service, but it could not be continued since there are no funds, and also, early last week, the district administration had attempted talks with Karnataka police to explore the possibility of picking up people right from the archway of Karnataka.
Meanwhile an official source has said, the power lines for the NHAI lamp posts on the median of Athibelli to Jujuvadi had suddenly been snapped and the lines were operable from inside Karnataka border and they should just start talking at the lowest levels, so ordinary people don’t suffer.
