Worst rainfall in Hyd in 108 years


Telangana CM KCR is monitoring situation in Hyderabad as the city witnessed worst rainfall in 108 years wreaking havoc in the state cutting off many areas. 17 people have died and many are evacuated in Telangana. Four columns of Army have been deployed and moved into Begumpet, Nizampet and Hakimpet areas in the city and Alwal in Ranga Reddy district to provide necessary relief, and  a 60-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been kept on the standby in the city. 


Warrant against TRS MLA MLA Elvis Stephenson stayed

The Hyderabad High Court on Friday stayed the bailable warrant issued by a single judge against nominated Anglo-India MLA  Elvis Stephenson, who is complainant in the cash-for-vote case.A division bench including Justice V Ramasubramanian  was dealing with Stephenson petition challenging the order of the single judge in issuing the warrant through which it had been directed to the Hyderabad city police commissioner to arrest him and release him on a personal bond of Rs 1lakh and produce him before the court on September 30.


Anti encroachment drive to be launched in Hyd


TRS government which is reeling under heavy rains and after effects now decided to act tough against encroachments. CM KCR announced that a drive against encroachments on canalas' or other places will be launched once the rains recede. He said  that 25 flying squads will be constituted to clear 28,000 encroachments on 'nalas' as they were obstructing the flow of storm water, leading to flooding of roads and residential areas even during light or moderate rains.

When people of Hyderabad are cursing heavy rains and entire Government administration is running from pillar to post to restore normalcy and praying for rains to stop, farmers are happy with the rains. Agriculture secretary C. Parthasarathy told that the heavy downpour over the past one week and fairly good monsoon in the past is a boon for agriculture.Ranga Reddy district, Nizamabad, Medak, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Mahbubnagar reported coverage of sowings from 76 per cent to 100 per cent of the area.


Illegal constructions reason behind floods in Warangal

Citizens blamed KCR for illegal constructions behind the current floods in Warangal. They said due to illegal land acquisition on the banks of lakes and indiscriminate construction of buildings, the water is overflowing from Waddepalli and Bhadrakali lakes. They blamed KCR for not keeping promise of underground drainage system.

CBN orders officials to restore rail,road services


AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit parts of Guntur district this evening flying over Bapatla, Pedanandipadu, Krosuru and other areas and then directed officials concerned to restore road and rail networks on a war footing.Chandrababu appealed to political parties to stop criticising the administration and start cooperating with the government in carrying out relief measures. 


Jagan to visit rain hit areas


Opposition leader Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP will visit submerged areas in Guntur district on Monday and Tuesday to take stock of the situation meeting farmers who suffered huge crop losses. Cotton fields in Prakasam district have been flooded as Nallamada Vagu breached. It was estimated that farmers have taken up cotton cultivation in 1,000 acres in the district.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC)  council meeting resulted in confusion when YSRC corporators raised the allegations on Mayor Koneru Sreedhar for reportedly misusing power to get contract works for Krishna Pushkaralu. This resulted in the suspension of YSRC corporators from the council meeting as they leveled corruption allegations against the Mayor’s wife also.

3 Day film fest come to an and
The three-day Telugu film festival organised by Vizag Film Society concluded here on Friday.The festival was held to mark the 85 years completion of the first Telugu Talkie Film ‘Bhakta Prahalada’. Films ‘Malli Pelli’, ‘Rangulakala’ and ‘Chandamama Kathalu’ were screened during the film festival. On the concluding day Narava Prakasa Rao, secretary of VFS, said it was unfortunate that Telugu film industry had forgotten the date of release of the first Telugu talkie cinema.
