As per reports from sources Central Government on Monday has approved 3 new Airports in Andhra Pradesh and the presence of senior TDP leader Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the Civil Aviation Minister has eased things for Andhra Pradesh.




Meanwhile the Steering Committee on Greenfield airports, headed by the Secretary, Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India, has given green signal for Bhogapuram Airport and two other airports at Dagadarthi (Nellore) and Orvakallu (Kurnool) and the Committee has also recommended for 'site clearance' to the Kothagudem airport in Telangana.

It was stated that the international airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district will be constructed by the AP State Government under PPP mode at an estimated cost of Rs 2200 crore to serve about 6.3 million passengers every year and this new airport is anticipated to ease the passenger traffic at Visakhapatnam airport.



Sources have added that the other two airports in AP will be developed as domestic No-Frills airports with a cost of Rs 88 crores each and the airport at Dagadarthi will be developed under PPP mode and the Orvakallu airport will be developed by State Government only.
