GHMC’s demolition and enforcement squads, invoking Section 405 of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, on Monday took up demolition drives across the city and razed encroachments on nalas, lakebeds and tanks.Section 405 has been invoked to avoid legal hurdles. Encroachers can’t approach courts for stay orders as no notices are served.Illegal structures were also demolished at Uppal, LB Nagar, Rajendranagar, Banjara Hills, Gachibowli, Madeenaguda, Kukatpally, Alwal, Allwyn Colony, Malkajgiri and some other areas.


Chattisgarh to give 1000MW power from January

Chairman and Managing Director of TS-Transco and TS-Genco D. Prabhakar Rao informed that t two power distribution companies (Discoms) in Telangana are expected to get 1,000 MW power from Chhattisgarh by December-end this year or in January next. Power purchase agreement in this regard was signed in September last year.


CPI get shock from HC over Nayeem

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U Durga Prasad Rao on Monday was not inclined to consider the request of Communist Party of India (Andhra Pradesh) Secretary K. Narayana, to hear the case filed by him out of turn. The case was filed by him as party-in-person, seeking of transfer of cases arising out of Nayeem scandal to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The case was filed by Narayana as party in person seeking a direction from the court to transfer the cases to the CBI.


KTR warns GHMC officials

Minister for Municipal Administration K. Taraka Rama Rao on Monday issued a stern warning to Municipal Commissioners and other key staff in the civic bodies that they would face serious action including removal from duties under the provisions of Municipal Act in case they continued to be negligent in discharge of their duties.

4 arrested for porn videos


Srikakulam Superintendent of Police J. Brahma Reddy said police arrested four persons — Chintada Maheshbabu, Seepana Ramesh, Santosh Kumar and Pedada Venkata Rao — who played with the lives of young women in Amadalavalasaunder IPC sections 328, 497 and 420 for making  pornographic videos by forcing gullible women and circulated the same online.


Police arrest 4 red sanders smuggling operatives

The combing operation conducted by the Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) in the Seshachalam Hills resulted in a minor skirmish at the Akkanna Dhona area near Mungilipattu of Chandragiri Mandal, here on Monday.According to official sources, a team led by RSI Bhaskar was confronted by nearly 40 smuggling operatives, who were found transporting red sanders logs from the interiors of the forest.The combing party nabbed four of them, reportedly hailing from Dharmagiri and Javadi Hills areas of Tamil Nadu, and also seized 33 red sanders logs. 


Jagan visits flood affected regions

The Steering Committee on Greenfield Airports headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, on Monday gave ‘in principle’ approval to three new airport projects in Andhra Pradesh.These are Bhogapuram and Dagadarthi (Nellore) and Orvakallu (Kurnool).


MLA demanded bribe for rail line works

Kalpesh Desai, Company Secretary of the Ahmedabad-based Montecarlo construction company, threatened to stop the railway line works taken up between Venkatachalam and Rapur in Nellore district if the local Venkatagiri MLA and TDP leader K. Ramakrishna did not stop interfering with their projects with immediate effect.Mr. Desai accused the MLA of demanding nearly Rs. 5 crore to allow the works to be continued near Rapur area.
