Slowly and steadily there are feelers coming in that the congress high command wants to demonstrate that it is very strict about code of conduct. As part of this, the talk is on about Sabita Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasad Rao submitting their resignations. Similarly, there is also a talk about Botsa Satyanarayana resigning from PCC Chief post.
But to look at it practically who benefits from these resignations? If both Sabita and Dharmana have indulged in mal practices then the damage is already done and their resignation is of zero value because elections are just around the corner. The people know that their place will be taken by someone else but nothing changes the system.
If true judgement and punishment has to be ordered then many say that both Dharmana and Sabita must be debarred from contesting in the next elections. At the same time, if the charges against them are proved then along with imprisonment their financial assets must be seized and used for public welfare. Will all this happen? Does the government have the guts to do this? We all know the answer for that.
