1.Rohith's mother, students hold protest outside UoH; denied entry.After a delay of more than two hours, Rohit Vemula Shahadath Din which was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon began at 5.30 PM at the main gate of University of Hyderabad even as the family members of Rohith Vemula along with Fathima Nafees, the mother of missing JNU student Najeeb, and others were not allowed into the campus.
2.Pressure tactics against Zaira Wasim unwarranted: Owaisi.All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi today said the pressure tactic on Kashmiri teen Zaira Wasim, forcing her to tender an apology over a meeting with J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was "unwarranted and uncalled for". Wasim, who played the younger version of Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat in Aamir Khan's Bollywood blockbuster "Dangal", had yesterday apologised for "offending" and "unintentionally hurting" people after her meeting with Mufti on Saturday.
3.Over 15000 flock to witness Yadadri International Kite Festival in Telangana. Telangana State Kite Festival saw footfall of close to 15,000 people who had come to witness professional kite flyers from around the world fly their kites. The international event was held at Yadagirigutta, over 70 kilometres from Hyderabad on Monday.
4.CM tells Venkaiah’s daughter Deepa Venkat to focus on Panchayat Raj system reforms.While heaping praises on Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s daughter I Deepa Venkat for doing yeoman service to the unemployed youth and villagers through Swarna Bharat Trust, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao suggested her to concentrate on reforming the Panchayat Raj system as people’s representatives at local level like MPTCs, MPPs and sarpanches play a key role in developing the villages.
5.Telangana stands tenth in road accident cases across India: NCRB.There has been a 5.52 per cent increase in the number of road accidents cases across Telangana, shows the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2015 data. This puts the State at the tenth position, in terms of road accidents,  recording 21,252 accident cases being registered in 2015.
6.TDP urges CM to observe NTR’s 21st death anniv.TDP demanded chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to initiate measures to observe the 21st death anniversary of TDP founder and Telugu legendary film actor NT Rama Rao, which is on Jan 18, officially.
7.Case against those who ransacked UoH VC's Appa Rao house still pending.The cases booked against 26 students and two professors, for ransacking the office of UoH vice-chancellor P Appa Rao on March 23 are still under investigation, said the police.
8.Five houses on city outskirts burgled.Burglars targeted five houses on the outskirts of city on Sunday and decamped with property worth over `6 lakh.According to police, the house breaking offences took place in Shashi Samyog Apartments at Umanagar in Medchal. About 48 families live in two blocks of the apartment. On Sunday night, the residents of B block noticed the broken locks of their neighbours Prabhakar and Mamidi Venkat Reddy house. The police on reaching the spot, found that the houses of Balaraj and Kiran Kumar  in A block were also burgled.
9.Now, silt chambers mandatory for new water supply connections. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has made construction of silt chambers mandatory for all the new water supply connections to prevent chokages.


Andhra Pradesh
1.Construction of KGH surgical, cancer hospital to speeden up.The district administration has decided to revise the MoU signed between the King George Hospital and ONGC, GAIL, BHEL, RINL, NTPC, VPT, HPCL and NMDC reducing the time frame for constructing the 10-storey super specialty surgical and cancer hospital in the KGH.
2.Good Sankranti sales help Andhra traders recoup demonetisation losses.After incurring a huge loss post-demonetisation, the Sankranti festivity has brought a relief to the traders who say that they have clocked good sales during the three-day harvest festival. Traders dealing in garment, liquor, essential commodities and restaurants registered good business.
3.Govt seeks to save power with green technology.As part of the AP Energy Star Programme, the State government has decided to retrofit all existing government buildings with energy efficient equipment to save around 40 per cent of electricity consumption. Besides, such a measure will also check environmental damage cause
4.Naidu keen on German automobile technology in AP.Stadler Rail Management AG, a Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock, has expressed willingness to set up its manufacturing unit in Visakhapatnam.
5.Pawan to speak at Harvard.Actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan will speak at the 14th edition of the India Conference 2017 scheduled to be held at the Harvard University in Boston on February 11 and 12. While it is not yet clear what subject he will pick for his lecture, Harvard University is likely to be a significant platform to accelerate his political career in Andhra Pradesh.
6.‘Pleas against AP division routine’.Senior counsels of the Hyderabad High Court are of the view that the petitions against AP Reorganisation Bill as well as the Act have come up for hearing before the Supreme Court in a ‘routine manner’ and that there is no significance in taking up the matter after a long gap of nearly two years.
