1.  Engineering students trap brothel-goers in khaki garb :      Despite demonetisation, sex trade continues to rake in the moolah. A seven-member gang, including six engineering students, were extorting money from clients frequenting brothels posing as policemen, but their free run ended after a person lodged a police complaint with the real men in khaki.
2.  Asaduddin Owaisi threatens protest over Metro project :   Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi threatened to launch fresh protests if the Hyderabad Metro Rail does not begin work in the Old City.
3.  Good Samaritan's SOS averts inferno :  short-circuit at an electric pole, just a few feet from a plush residential complex at Road No.3 Banjara Hillsearly on Thursday, could have turned into an inferno and swallowed apartments with its licking flames, had it not been for an SOS from a Good Samaritan.
4.  Assign administrator for India-Bangladesh match: Hyderabad High Court :  In view of the test match between India and Bangladesh scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on February 9 as well as the ongoing tussle among various groups for control over the Hyderabad Cricket Association, the high court was on Thursday urged to appoint an administrator to ensure smooth conduct of the match.
5.  Telangana police attempting to intimidate us: Joint Action Committee :  The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has charged the state police with repeatedly trying to intimidate its members. The tactics include repeated visits to members' homes and questions about their family history and relatives, TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram said on Thursday .
6.  Mafia in khaki frame: Telangana government claims fall flat, probe on :  Though the Telangana government recently informed the high court that there was no evidence to charge some policemen for their alleged links with slain gangster Nayeemuddin, photographs of the renegade Naxalite in the company of men in khaki surfaced on Thursday , leaving the state police red faced.
7.  Centre shelves Kavali plan, Andhra in quest of nuclear plant sites :  The Centre seems to have backed out of the nuclear power project at the coastal town of Kavali in Nellore district even as the state government gave its nod for technical studies to identify new potential sites. 
8.  2 IM convicts flown from Hyderabad to Delhi and 1 to Mumbai :  Three of the five Indian Mujahideen (IM) convicts in the Dilsukhnagar bomb blast case were moved out of Cherlapally jail and, amid unprecedented security, flown to Delhi and Mumbai where they were booked for acts of terrorism committed there.
9.  Secunderabad Cantonment Board drive: 5 property owners cough up tax :  Authorities of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) on Thursday sealed six commercial properties for defaulting property tax worth nearly Rs 6 lakh.
10.  RBI issuing smaller denomination notes :  With banks not giving enough cash in lower denominations, the local branch of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is issuing Rs 100 and Rs 50 notes.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  Top babu ‘stays put’ in Telangana, wing suffers :   The shifting of the AP Construction and Other Workers’ Welfare Board (APCOWWB) to Vijayawada from Hyderabad has not taken place though the Secretariat was shifted to Velagapudi, and the works related to the APCOWWB have been stalled in AP for over a year.
2.   Turmeric price cheers Nizamabad farmers :   Turmeric price has been increasing gradually in Nizamabad agriculture market yard in the last few days. Being the beginning of the season, the increasing price is kindling the hopes of farmers of a good profit.
3.  Chandrababu Naidu to finalise designs for capital on February 22 :  The final designs of Amaravati administrative city will be finalised on February 22. Master architects of London — Norman Foster informed Chief Minister that they would submit the final designs on 22.
4.   9 private varsities in Andhra Pradesh get land :   HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday said that the state government has allocated land to nine private universities and entered into MoUs with another eight during the recently concluded Partnership Summit-2017 as per the Private Universities’ Act.
5.  GVMC braces up for water problem :  The water levels in various reservoirs that supply water to Visakhapatnam have been plummeting. Though the situation seems somewhat better compared to last year, the city has been staring at an impending water scarcity, as is customary every year.
6.  Andhra Pradesh: No work but salaries for 42 aided teachers :  Teachers in the aided schools are drawing salaries on part with their counterparts in government schools but without any work in Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts.
7.   Chandrababu Naidu, Yanamala hold discussions on Budget :  The AP finance ministry had received proposals for Budget allocations from across all departments, which amount to a total of Rs 2,35,000 crore. The state government is planning a Budget of Rs 1,50,000 crore, the allocation of which will be prioritised on an outcome-basis.

9.   Film tourism to boost Kurnool economy :  Kurnool district, with its numerous valleys, water bodies, rivers, ca-ves, flora and fauna besides expansive plains, ridges and bridges continues to attract film producers. The marquee Kondareddy Burz and the Banganapalli Nawab Bungalow where Arundhati film was shot continue to be favourite spots for film and TV serial shooting.
