1.  Swine flu claims 2 more, toll jumps to 10 :  Swine flu claimed two more lives in the city within a span of 48 hours, taking the toll to 10 since Januray 1 this year.
2.  Pension demand for Telangana martyrs :  The Praja Telangana Front, a political platform working for the rights and entitlements of Telangana martyrs and activists) on Wednesday demanded the state government to constitute a committee to identify fighters of the separate state struggle for providing pension to them.
3.  Vamsi Reddy Mamidala's killer facing charges for murder, robbery :  A 30-year-old criminal Stuart Baronngaue, who jumped parole, is the alleged killer of Indian student Vamsi Reddy Mamidala who was shot dead in Milpitas, California in the US on February 10. Stuart Baronngauewas lodged in the Santa Clara County Jail on several charges, including murder, robbery , felony evasion, and his outstanding warrant, according to the Milpitas police department. 
4.  HC rejects Andhra Pradesh government plea to acquire temple land :  The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday refused to accede to a plea by the Andhra Pradesh government which wanted the court to modify the prevailing restraint order in respect of temple land all over AP and Telangana.
5.  Telangana wants rooftops to be the new 'farms' :  The state horticulture department is asking people in the city to join hands with it in the 'Urban Vegetable Farming' initiative to promote cultivation of vegetables and fruits on balconies and terraces of houses.
6.  7,000 deaths & counting, but road safety remains in govt blind spot :  The state government has been sitting for the last two years on a proposal for setting up of a separate department for road safety .
7.  13,600 cases booked, over Rs 1 crore fine collected in Cyberabad :  Using a mobile phonewhile behind the wheel has emerged as one of the top traffic violationscommitted in Cyberabad, over the past three years.
8.  Dowry demands of home guard hubby forces 24-yr-old to take her own life :  A 24-year-old woman, who was allegedly harassed for dowry by her husband - a home guard with 'Dial 100' - committed suicide on Tuesday . The woman, a resident of NBT Nagar, Road No 12, Banjara Hills, hanged herself. While her family has raised doubts over her death, the police have registered a dowry death case.
9.  Funds vigil on mid-day meals at madrassas :  Months after the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) scam on madrassas led to arrest of officials for corruption, the state government is in no mood to take chances with funds earmarked for these Islamic schools.
10.  Dramatic suicide: Social media photos & air tickets for funeral :   A senior employee of Sri Venkateswara University here allegedly hanged himself at his residence after creating on WhatsApp a profile picture of a noose with his dates of birth and death. He was reportedly dejected after his wife deserted him.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  HRC calls for report on attack on journalist :  The Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission has asked the Prakasam district Superintendent of Police to submit a report on the attack on a journalist at Chirala on February 
2.  Nellore Mayor promises better sports facilities :  Stressing the need for encouraging budding talent, Mayor Abdul Aziz said that better facilities would be created in the playgrounds in the Nellore Municipal Corporation limits.
3.  Students celebrate successful launch of PSLV C-37 rocket :  Students from different schools and colleges, BJP and its youth wing Yuva Morcha have celebrated successful launch of 104 satellites into the orbit on PSLV C-37 rocket from SHAR Centre at Sriharikota on Wednesday.
4.  All-party meet sought on A.P. properties :  Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council C. Ramachandraiah has demanded that an all-party meeting be convened on the issue of properties belonging to Andhra Pradesh, including Secretariat in Hyderabad.
5.  Council elections: Congress nominee, scribe file papers :  In all, five nominations were filed on Wednesday to the North Andhra Graduates’ Constituency. Adiraju Yedla of the Congress, who contested the election in 2011, filed his papers. 
6.  YSRC stays away from the buzz :  The YSR Congress is not contesting the elections to the graduates’ constituency because of its “weak base” at the grassroots level. The party is not backing independents either, as any adverse result will erode its image.
7.  Chengalrayudu joins Telugu Desam :  Congress MLC from Railway Koduru B. Chengalrayudu on Wednesday switched loyalties to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The MLC and his followers joined the TDP at party national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Undavalli near here.
8.   Two Umas in good books of AP CM for their Jagan-bashing remarks :   The two Umas of the Telugu Desam have scored over senior leaders by coming to the party’s rescue on critical issues and for their role in recent political developments.
9.  Rajahmundry: More RTA services to go online :  Authorities of the road transport department will make several services available online, including the issue of permits, endorsement or termination of finances and transfer of ownership. 
10. GVMC lags behind in water tax collection : The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has been lagging behind in household water tax collections. In the last three years, it could only realise some 30 to 40 per cent of the collectable demand.
