1.  Kodandaram rejects alternative sites for rally :  The police on Monday suggested six places to the Telangana joint action committee to organise a public meeting instead of a rally from Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Wednesday to highlight unemployment but it was rejected by the JAC as they were on the city outskirts and would not serve purpose.
2.  RBI appoints lead banks for 31 districts of State :  Following the formation of 21 new districts in Telangana in October last year after reorganisation of 10 existing districts, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed lead banks to all the 31 districts ahead of the 2017-18 financial year.
3.  Man held for conspiring with Pakistani fraudsters :  A native of Palakkad district of Kerala was arrested by the cyber crime police, Central Crime Station (CCS) for conspiring with Pakistani fraudsters and cheating people through a fake lottery scam. The accused, Sulaiman Kutty, was hand-in-glove with two persons named Muneer and Faisal.
4.  Harish objects to Digvijay’s statement :  Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said that AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh should have visited the villages and interacted with farmers before criticising the government.
5.  Protesting TDP leaders held in Warangal :  Scores of TDP leaders were arrested by the police while they were staging a hunger strike at Enumamula agricultural market in support of farmers here on Monday.
6.  KCR to donate Rs. 5 crore ornaments to Tirumala :  Ending months of speculations, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is finally scheduled to gift precious ornaments worth Rs. 5 crore to Tirumala deity on February 22.
7.  Aid for 1969 martyrs’ families :  For the first time after four decades, the families of the martyrs who fought for the separate Telangana cause, were extended financial assistance by the government.
8.  Power sector strengthened with Rs. 1,100 cr in Medak :  The State government had spent as much as Rs. 1,100 crore to improve the quality of power supply. This has checked the failure of motors, thereby reducing the burden on farmers, who are getting quality power in two spells.
9.  Demo against police exam :  More than 40 people who have appeared for the State police recruitment examinations gathered at the Director General Police’s office over apprehensions that those with lower marks will get jobs. The aspirants who appeared for job of police constable caused a traffic jam for a while and left after the police took representations from them on the issue.
10.  MoU with NABARD inked for Rs. 874 cr. loan :  The Telangana Government on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for a loan of Rs. 874 crore to promote micro-irrigation facilities over 3.15 lakh acres in the State during the current and next financial years.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  Fake currency seized :  The Police arrested four persons in Housing Board Colony in Kurnool town and seized fake currency notes for Rs. 2.17 lakh from them, Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna said on Monday. The arrested were Daram Sunil, Valathati Tarakumar, Pasula Srinivasa Reddy and Loddipalle Boya Siva Kumar.
2.  Chinese team to meet CM tomorrow :  Liu Jie, Vice-Governor of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province (China), is leading a 17-member delegation to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
3.  HCL to open unit in State capital :  Here is good news for young managers in Andhra Pradesh. HCL Technologies Limited is planning to open its branch in Vijayawada and operate from the State capital soon.
4.  A.P. ports poised for rapid growth :  The seaports at Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada and Gangavaram, which are located closed to industrial nodes and have superior infrastructure, will benefit immensely from the coast-centric development policy of the State government, EY (formerly Ernst & Young) observed in a ‘knowledge paper on port-centric industrial development’ prepared by it in association with Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers).
5.  A.P., T.S. submit property details :  Andhra Pradesh and Telangana officials submitted the details of assets of four Schedule IX institutions to the Department of Home Affairs in Delhi on Monday.
6.  E.A.S. Sarma says LPS fraught with irregularities :  Disputing claims that there was no coercion in the implementation of Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) in Amaravati, former IAS officer and social activist E.A.S. Sarma said that when the truth came out heads would roll in the political and administrative circles.
7.  Aid for Vamsadhara-hit soon :  Srikakulam district administration is keen to calm down displaced families of Vamsadhara phase-2 project by paying compensation by end of February.
8.  Realtor ‘abducted’ for ransom :  A 50-year-old real-estate businessman Pasupuleti Lova Raju was reportedly kidnapped by two persons demanding a ransom of Rs. 5 lakh.
9.  Service tax waived for cargo bound for Nepal :  The decision to scrap 4.5% service tax on ocean freight for consignments transshipped from Visakhapatnam and Kolkata ports as the third country imports to Nepal will benefit the trading community of the Himalayan country.
10.  After grand launch, e-hospital in Nellore still limping :  In accordance with the people’s demand for speedier services, the e-hospital initiative has been taken up in a big way at the DSR Government General Hospital here but the delay in the launch of these comprehensive services has drawn flak from the public.
