Mumbai Crown is the most coveted for any political party. While winning Uttar Pradesh leads to Delhi crown and winning Delhi is prestigious as it is India's national capital, winning Mumbai the business capital of the country is also prestigious.

Mumbai municipal polls were held yesterday and it was more bitterly contested than any other earlier polls. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is regarded as the citadel of Shiv Sena, popular and most powerful regional party.

BJP's coalition partner Shiv Sena is known for its aggressive ways and been criticising PM Modi and BJP led government both at the centre and the state. This time Shiv Sena and BJP went to polls all alone taking it as a prestigious issue.

Under these circumstances speculation is on as to who will win the BMC crown. Shiv Sena contested all 227 BMC wards while Congress put up candidates in 221 and BJP in 211 wards. Apart from them MS contested 201 and NCP 171 and BSP 109 wards. SP put candidates in 76 while MIM contested 56.

Exit polls indicated that Shiv Sena is fast losing its popularity and ground. Though it is still the strongest party, BJP is catching up and now it is neck and neck race. It is comingout that both  parties will get 32% share and while Shiv Sena is expected to win 86-92 seats, BJP is following it closely with 80-88 seats.

Congress is expected to win 30-34, NCP 3-6 and MNS 5-7 seats. In 2012 when BJP and Shiv Sena fought in alliance, Shiv Sena won 75 and when it contested alone in 2007 it won 84. BJP won  31 wards in 2012 and 28 in 2007.
