Sources from Chennai have stated that Deepa Jayakumar, niece of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha, has decided not to join hands with O. Panneerselvam, on the occasion of her aunt’s birth anniversary on Friday. Instead, Ms. Deepa has independently lined up a series of events from 6 a.m. on Friday. After commissioning the party office at her residence in T. Nagar, she will have breakfast at a destitute home in Madhuravoyal and at noon, she had conducted an annadhanam at her residence in Sivagnanam Street in T. Nagar. At 5 p.m., she had announced the name of her party and the party flag.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam will visit late Jayalalitha’s constituency R.K. Nagar and distribute gifts including cycle rickshshaws, saris and fishing equipment to commemorate Jayalalitha’s birth anniversary. He is also expected to make a major announcement at the event.

Ms. Deepa and Mr. Panneerselvam had met together briefly at Jayalalitha’s memorial the day AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala was convicted and sentenced to four years jail in the disproportionate assets case.
