Kochi sources have stated that the Chief Minister has convened a meeting on 13th of this month to clear the confusion surrounding the Kochi Metro. The meeting was planned to be held at Thiruvananthapuram will discuss topics such as the route to be covered in first phase and difference of opinion regarding the inauguration.



It was stated that DMRC Principal Advisor E Sreedharan and KMRL managing director Elias George will take part in the meeting. The DMRC wishes to operate service between Aluva and Palarivattom in the initial phase and the same have been conveyed to the CM. Sreedharan has also made it clear that the construction works up to Palarivattom will be completed by the end of March.

However, the government is not interested in launching the service for a shorter distance in the first phase. The CM has openly expressed his displeasure over this move. Moreover, the unavailability of parking space at Palarivattom aggravates the situation. Given this, the government had stated that and it wants the rail service to be opened after works till Maharaja’s Ground are completed and if required, the KMRL can avail additional time.



Previously, it was announced that the first phase of Metro till Maharaja’s Ground will be completed in March and the service will be completed in March and the service will be launched in April. However, DMRC authorities say the issues related to land acquisition delayed the construction process.
