Sources from Thrissur have stated that ‘Pantibhojanam’ is reminiscent of a historical event that attempted establish equality in society, said Kerala Sahitya Akademi president Vaisakhan.



Meanwhile when speaking after inaugurating the ‘Panthibhojanam’ painting camp organized by Kerala Lalithakala Akademi here on Sunday, he said art was the only panacea to fight fundamentalist thoughts in the name of religion and caste.

“Panthibhojanam is the return of camaraderie and amity,” said Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi chairperson KPAC Lalitha. People from various socio-political-cultural sectors participated in the Panthibhojanam held at the Lalithakala Akademi. The Kerala Laithakala Akademi is organizing a 10 day painting camp in connection with 100th anniversary of Panthibhojanam (inter-dining of upper castes and outcastes).



Meanwhile a series of lectures and various cultural programs have been organized in connection with the camp. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi chairman Sathyapal, Secretary Ponnyam Chandran, Mayor Ajitha Jayarajan, district panchayat president Shiela Vijayakumar and others spoke on the occasion.
