Successive governments across the country failed to solve the problems of the farmers. Despite an acute drought in various parts of the country, inaction on part of the governments resulted in the suicides of many farmers.
However, governments turned a blind eye to the plight of the farmers. Now skulls of the dead farmers created a sensation. Farmers of Tamil Nadu who have been facing severe drought protested for two days carrying skulls of dead farmers who ended their life committing suicide.
Farmers temporarily called off the strike after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley asked them to give two days time to discuss the matter of writing off their loans with the RBI.
More than 100 farmers from Trichy,Karur and Thanjavur regions protested to get their loans waived off at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. Uma Bharati,Water Minister who earlier met them spoke about interlinking of national rivers.
