At Last! Congress Govt dared to go for local body elections starting from Panchayats followed by Mandal and Municipalities. State Election Commission announced it’s schedule on Panchayat elections. Elections conducted on three phases July 23^rd, July 27^th and July 31^st.  And Election Code effects from today onwards in the state. Under 74^th Amendment of Indian Constitution Govt should conduct elections for every five years. Since last two years Government postponed the local elections and run local bodies with Special Officers. Various political reasons have forced the Govt to postpone every time. Huge amounts of grants piled at Centre Govt without releasing for the growth and development of local body elections.

 Currently very unusual Political situation prevails in the state. It’s very risk to conduct local body elections for government just 9 months before the general elections. It is almost like semi-finals before to face final (general elections). Analysts believe that verdict in local bodies is almost similar in general elections too.  All political parties are taking these with seriously. TDP President Chandra Babu Naidu and YSRCP President Vijayamma have already started their party regional meetings to arouse fighting spirit among the cadre. TRS and YSRCP don’t have enough party structure from gross-root level. TRS leadership has facing string of allegations and land settlement issues. Besides corruption charges on Jagan, YSRCP faces internal-fighting’s in most of the segments. So far, these parties taste the victories in the name of sentiment. Now it’s time to show their real strength. These elections are really testing time for both Congress and TDP for becoming Champions in 2014.

As per current political scenario triangle fight is inevitable in both the regions in the state. Fight among three major political parties (TRS Vs TDP Vs INC) in Telangana for 8700 odd panchayats and nominees of TDP, INC and YSRCP in Andhra and Rayalaseema Districts fight for 12900 odd panchayats. This is indirect election with ballot paper. No official symbols allotted to the contestants. YSRCP alleges that there may be chance to show it’s performance wrongly by the Congress by gathering all winning candidates. It challenges Govt to conduct elections officially. The real power of the parties will be known with these elections. As per political analysts after local bodies there is clarity on political picture in AP.
