Supreme Court of India while delivering its verdict on disproportionate assets case found fault with former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa and convicted her aide Sasikala. 


Supreme Court however stopped short of naming Jayalalithaa as a convict as she passed away by the time of delivering its verdict. In the meantime Karnataka government approached Supreme Court to declare Jayalalithaa as the convict in the case.

Supreme Court today however rejected Karnataka government's request saying "Applications for personal hearing of review petitions before the court are rejected. We have considered the review petitions filed by the State of Karnataka on merits. In our opinion, no case for review of our order dated February 14, 2017 is made out. Consequently, the review petitions are dismissed on merits,"


Karnataka earlier moved the top court against its judgement on Feb 14 contending that once the proceedings were abated, it would not be possible to recover the fine of Rs. 100 crore imposed on the late leader which was part of the punishment awarded to her in the case.
